In December 2010, a caller phoned into Free Talk Live about a currency nobody had heard of. Two weeks later the head developer emailed the show. Six weeks later Mark took his first Bitcoin donation live on the air. He was the first radio host in the world to do it.
Mark and Ian Freeman met with Gavin Andresen — Bitcoin's lead developer at the time — in January 2011. They talked Bitcoin on the show that night. Roger Ver, then a Free Talk Live advertiser, heard the segment, went into a three-day manic phase, came out of it, and demanded Free Talk Live start taking Bitcoin. He went on to become "Bitcoin Jesus" — the most consequential early evangelist of cryptocurrency on the planet. CoinTelegraph profiled the introduction a decade later.
"Free Talk Live was the first stage in a multi-stage rocket that shot Bitcoin into the stratosphere." — Gavin Andresen
Charlie Shrem has said Bitcoin wouldn't exist without the show. Mark saw it coming before almost anyone.
23 years on the high wire.
Mark co-launched Free Talk Live in 2002 on one station. By 2004 it was nationally syndicated. Over the run the show has aired on more than 300 radio stations, satellite radio, and is listened to globally. It is libertarian in temperament, anarchic in format, and runs with no screener, no delay. A high-wire act with no net.
Mark has been recognized by TALKERS Magazine as one of the Top 25 Most Important Talk Show Hosts in the nation. The show has won TALKERS' Freedom of Speech Award five times.
Broadcasting from wherever.
Mark is a globetrotter. He broadcasts from wherever he is. He was an early Free State Project mover, a long-running voice in New Hampshire's liberty community, and a Lifetime Member of the NH Liberty Alliance.
When the Boston Globe profiled current NH House Majority Leader Jason Osborne in 2024, Osborne called Mark a twenty-year friend. That kind of access shows up on the air: legislators, liberty-movement leaders, crypto founders, constitutional scholars, and whoever calls in.
What he does now.
Mark produces Mark Edge Show as his flagship solo program. Recent guests include Stephan Kinsella (libertarian legal theorist), Scott Horton (foreign-policy writer), Jeff Berwick (The Dollar Vigilante), Paul Puey (Edge Wallet), Jeremy Kauffman (LBRY / Free State Party), and NH Majority Leader Jason Osborne.
He also co-hosts Sal and Mark, the cross-partisan Raines & Edge, long-form interviews on The Edgington Post, and continues to contribute to Free Talk Live.
Off the air, it’s crypto, New Hampshire, and whatever the liberty community needs done that week.
